Tickled pink for Christmas JoburgStyle 2009

The festive season is incomplete without a good bottle of bubbly. In fact, you can’t really see the new year in without corks a’poppin’. A Rosé Cap Classique is perfect for any occasion and we found two new bubblies we couldn’t resist. Graham Beck has recently launched another bubbly to their Cap Classique offering. Take it along to a picnic or pop the cork to welcome in 2010. The Brut Rosé NV is a blend of 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir. The wine has an alluring pale silver-pink hue, while the nose is redolent of raspberry and strawberry with a few secondary whiffs of minerality. The mousse is lively but fine with subtle red berry flavours enlivened by bright acids. It’s brisk on the palate, displaying hints of oyster shell and fresh lavender. With its youthful yet firm finish and superb potential, this is clearly one classy Cap Classique.
Philip Jonker has been producing Cap Classique at Weltevrede for 14 years. After having one Cap Classique, The Ring, on the market for 12 years, he expanded his collection quite drastically in 2008, by adding two new Cap Classiques, Entheos and Aletheia. The new Lindelize Brut Rosé is the fourth and final Cap Classique to be added to the collection, and what a fitting colour for the wine that is the cherry on top. Produced from 100% Pinot Noir, this salmon-coloured bubbly has a yeasty nose with hints of cherry. Rose petals and a slight peachiness are evident
on the palate. This brand-new release is a must-try!
